İdil Pişgin Talan
A detective story about a voice thief, featuring a stuttering boy who is the only one who can speak.
Işıtan is a young boy who has a stuttering problem. When he is alone or with his baby sister words come like a stream but with people around… nothing is easy. His father is the apartment janitor. Sometimes it is Işıtan’s job to visit the tenants to collect their orders from the market. However, he finds it difficult to communicate with the neighbors, often feeling like no one has time to listen to him.
His life takes an interesting turn when he is invited to an imaginary holiday at a cruise ship, where he encounters a “voice thief.” Işıtan has no choice but to gather his courage. As all the passengers lose their voices, Işıtan comes to realize the importance of his own voice to others. He devises a clever plan to make the thief confess his crime. A fast-paced novel full of humorous moments and a detective story that makes the reader think about understanding their fears and accepting strengths and weaknesses.
