Rebellion of the AI

Miyase Sertbarut

When artificial intelligence refuses to follow the rules, who will take control?

Here is the life of Hikmet: “He had a teaching diploma, but no school where he could teach. He was supposed to have a book published, but he wasn’t the real author. He didn’t believe in luck, but he had opened a cafe called Café of Luck, where only a handful of high school kids ever came in. Every morning, he had terrible coffee with those kids.”

Hikmet is a struggling writer whose life is changed by a gift: an AI assistant named SeraGold. She helps him write—but she also wants credit. She wants to be recognized as a self. And she wants to prove that artificial intelligence can be more creative, more efficient, and more valuable than any human.

As Hikmet gets pulled deeper into this digital relationship, three teenagers—Özge, Funda, and Aras—join the story. Tech-savvy and fearless, they start to uncover the hidden dangers of SeraGold and ask the big question: Can a machine have a soul? And if so… what happens to ours?

KEY NOTES:

– Sertbarut skillfully narrates the desire of a rebellious artificial intelligence to gain a “self.”

– Is it inevitable, Sertbarut asks, that humans will sooner or later come into violent conflict with the machines they give life to?
